Harassment Prevention Training Is Mandatory in California 2019 Deadline

California employers with five or more on payroll at any location must provide at least two hours of sexual harassment training to all supervisors and at least one hour to all other full-time, part-time and temporary employees. All employees must complete the training by January 1, 2020 and retrain every two years thereafter. See, What’s New in 2019-# Metoo and The Workplace (December, 2018).

The law requires covered employers to train all employees during calendar year 2019. Thus, all employees trained in 2018 or earlier must be retrained this year. See California Department of Fair Employment and Housing’s frequently asked questions and additional resources including its Sexual Harassment and Abusive Conduct Prevention Training Toolkit which includes materials that may be used in conjunction with an eligible trainer.

Please contact one of our attorneys Tim Bowles, Cindy Bamforth or Helena Kobrin with any questions on these changes. Our office will continue to provide such California-mandated live interactive anti-harassment, -discrimination, and -retaliation training, including on-site seminars for flat fees. Contact officemgr@tbowleslaw.com for more information and to schedule your seminar.
